I have a really dumb question, but i would love to hear your answers. How/ Where/ What do you use to make your patterns? Whenever I make anything or stitch anything I just stare at my screen and count the blocks. If I had a program, or at least knew a way to do it com my computer, it may be a game changer for me.

I second this, would be much more likely to get it done in two months. And I admit, there are tons of fantastic bands, not all I've heard of but I would stitch all the same.tnitnetny wrote:I am going to try to make some time for this. Could we have it for maybe April and May and have 8 lines instead of 4? 6 we all choose and then 2 of our own choosing?
Damn you guys are way too awesome!

Most people here seem to use either KG-Chart (http://www.iktsoft.net/kgchart-en/kgchart/), which is free, or PC Stitch (http://www.pcstitch.com/Download/Download.aspx) which is free with limitation, that is, you can't save your created patterns... But for 50$, you can fully unlock it. Personally I prefer KG-Chart, it's easy to learn how to use it and I didn't have to pay a dime for it!natepopinski wrote:I have a really dumb question, but i would love to hear your answers. What do people think of this? I have already outlined my plan for the event but I can adapt it to fit a longer window. It just means I have to delay the next event (again) but I'm open to it if it's what's wanted.QueenBex wrote:I second this, would be much more likely to get it done in two months.tnitnetny wrote:Could we have it for maybe April and May and have 8 lines instead of 4? 6 we all choose and then 2 of our own choosing?
@natepopinski - Lileya is correct. Most peeps here use one or both of those programs. I used to do what you do, but now I use both programs to make the patterns. I still rely on my eye to pick colours though. It's just faster and easier for me to read a symbol-based chart in my old age

Re: APRIL Stitch-a-Long - Samplers
I use a program that a friend gave me years ago that I really enjoy, it's Pattern Maker for Cross-Stitch by Hobby Ware. I'd like to purchase it properly eventually, but the Standard version (for the 'hobbyist') is $60 and the professional version is $120.
Which is why I might have issues uploading my patterns, since I find KG-chart kinda fiddly. I'll try to convert things to .pdf, but I am not sure if I can. If I sent the files for my bands with notes for the colors would someone have time to convert it? That is, if I can't make it a .pdf?

I'm for lengthening the SAL but either way I'm going to stitch all my favourite bands! I can't live without the portal, guitar hero & commander keen bands. I guess I'm greedy?

Send all the relevant stuff to me and I will pop it into KG and PDF it. No problem!m4pl3g1rl wrote:I use a program that a friend gave me years ago that I really enjoy, it's Pattern Maker for Cross-Stitch by Hobby Ware. Looks like there are lots to choose from! I think you might have missed 2 of mine that are on page one. There's a super mario bros 3 and an ocarina of time one that I did.blackmageheart wrote:I just wanted to share with you lot what my folder for this event looks like right now.
47 items and counting!Spoiler
I haven't been able to do my bands yet, got a job to do first but then I'll get on it. Going to give Sega some love.
