Only three?? That's rough.
Also, I didnt vote for it, but I would be interested in seeing what living in the 40K universe would be like. It sounds fascinating.

Re: Poll: Which fictional place would you rather live in?
I chose Narnia, LotR, and Zelda! Narnia has long been an absolute favorite of mine, and everything about it enchants me. The same goes for LotR, it just captures me
And Hyrule because I think it has a lot of peaceful times, and is always so beautiful. I would have put the Wheel of Time in there, but they seem to really go through a literally endless wheel of unhappiness and evil, and that doesn't appeal to me very much lol
I don't mind whether I'm a main character or not, but I'd probably prefer not to be, since I don't really like danger or much excitement or anything like that.

Such a difficult choice! I was torn between 5 of them - Pokémon, Digimon, Potterverse, Star Trek and Final Fantasy, but I settled on Pokémon, Star Trek and Potterverse.
The idea of doing magic has always appealed, and I almost selected Final Fantasy instead of Potter because of the beautiful locations, but Potter won out in the end.
I'm a big Digimon fan, but Pokémon has more variety and more potential, so that made that decision. And Star Trek? Well, warp travel sounds awesome!

I love that Pern is in this list! I am sad that I had to leave all my Anne Mcaffrey books back in Aus, just when I was craving a re-read. I guess I will just have to live without them for a year or two
I would love to be a drangonrider of pern! But if I lucked out at the coosing, I would settle for a firelizard. Oh and the dolphins!
Of course pokemon was one of my choices. I would probably be a breeder or something. If it was real, the battling would just seem a touch cruel... But real life pokes?
yes please! Oh, and I would totes have all the vivillon! In a giant beautiful greenhouse!
Lastly I chose avatar, because I mean who hasn't tried to waterbend in the shower?
If I was a non-bender I would cry

Re: Poll: Which fictional place would you rather live in?
I'm looking at many of these and wondering what my life expectancy would be :p
Can I ask, if we choose Potterverse we are actually in the wizarding world and not muggles, cos being a muggle in the potterverse must suck big time.
LOTR is tempting but there's this huge disharmony thing and orcs never seem to go extinct. Plus I can't punch very well.
I like space stuff but I am actually scared of the thought of being out there, so Star Wars and Star Trek etc are out.
Final fantasy always seems to be a race to save the world. I'm stressed as it is, I wouldn't be able to live like that.
And I'm pretty sure any dragon I come across would eat me first and ask questions later.
I am running out of options here and for some reason it's really upsetting me, quick anyone have any suggestions!?! Where could I live and flourish and by doing what in that world?

QueenBex, since this is all fantasy, you could choose to live in these at any time, say after peace is achieved. And of course you get to be a wizard! If you were to choose Star Trek or Wars, you could live on any planet, like Risa! You wouldn't have to actually travel in space. You get to make these scenarios anything you want!
(I really want to know who picked Terminator though. As awesome as the movies are, you couldn't pay me to live in them! lol)

The Hundred Acre Wood. C'mon, she dared us.QueenBex wrote:I am running out of options here and for some reason it's really upsetting me, quick anyone have any suggestions!?! Where could I live and flourish and by doing what in that world?

Oz isn't that terrible, really; for most of the general population, they live a pretty content life. I extolled the virtues of Dinotopia in my post. The Pokeverse is snuggly and adorable. And I think it would be fascinating to live in the spirit world from Ghibli's Sen to Chihiro / Spirited Away, especially away from the freneticism of the spa.

Re: Poll: Which fictional place would you rather live in?
After much internal debate and listing pros and cons in my head, I decided on pokemon (I was going to choose one with a dragon in, this gives me dragons and much more).
Potter verse (definitely have to be a witch, would have to have Harry's invisibility cloak aswell though).
And finally dr who verse (have to be a companion though, with my complete pick of dr. May have to mix and match drs, so I get a good amount of time with all my favourites).
I did like the idea of going to the hundred acre wood. Who wouldn't love to share honey with pooh bear.

Re: Poll: Which fictional place would you rather live in?
Ok ok, I choose
Potterverse- def be a witch at Hogwarts then going on to work with Magical Creatures, maybe i'd set up an RSPCA for magical creatures... Or a kickass Auror. Or perhaps an undercover/reservist Auror, and my magical RSPCA would be my main job/cover.
Discworld- I really like the 'verse, and to be honest I could see myself as a witch always doing chores, running after dogs, getting the harvest in, complaining, having tea with Death, solving complex dilemmas like which cake to bring to the fete and how to beat Gladys in the jam contest, banishing demons, shopping for old people, trying not to think too much...
Zelda-for the adventure. To ride horses to get to places. To drink potions that instantly make me feel better. For the markets and the postman and the archery and the nature and being in harmony with the world as much as I can. For finding money in cutting grass and smashing rocks....
Pokemon is a close fourth after thinking about it, actually would be pretty great.TBH I wish i'd put that instead of Discworld now.
I'd also love to be in Kiki's ghibli world.
Winnie the Pooh is a close runner up, must be relaxing and adventurous.
I don't think I could afford living in a Marvel/DC world, mentally or financially.
I would love to be a part of my own fictional world of my first novel, it's in space, but it isn't as scary as others. A tavern on it's own little lump of rock with it's own atmosphere, time frame and weather that matches England on Earth in a pure coincidence that has nothing to do with me
and its own intergalactic doorway, connecting to thousands of millions of points across known space and some beyond it too. Just drifting freely and somehow avoiding crashing into things. I wouldn't mind a permanent residence at The Wandering Star.

Re: Poll: Which fictional place would you rather live in?
I chose the ones I wanted, but for whatever reason my computer was being a whiny brat (it updated and automatically downloaded some program so I had to do a battery of tests and virus elmination and what-not) so I couldn't actually post as to WHY I chose them.
ANYWAY...I chose Zelda
because I would adore to be able to actually go through temples and figure out the puzzles and open treasure chests and HOOKSHOT OMG THE HOOKSHOT (any guess what my favorite item is? lol)
I chose pokemon...I'm not really sure why. I think it would just be fun.
And lastly I chose the Potterverse because the idea that magic could exist makes things so much more interesting. I love the idea of being able to use magic to make every day life easier. A flick of the wand and suddenly I could have my whole house cleaned. I also rather like the idea of all my mail coming by personal owl...
