Re: What are you watching now and why?
For the most part, I can understand spoken Japanese (though I don't speak it very well), so subs are the way to go for me. I don't often watch raw - I still need the subtitles as guides occasionally - but for the most part I can just keep an ear tuned and be fine. Dubbing robs a piece of a lot of its intent and context.
As for what I'm watching: Arrow and Warehouse 13 are my current "me list". I sometimes watch Downton Abbey with my spouse (we just got caught up with Season 4). The two of us also watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. religiously. The whole family has been TNG binging for the past couple of months as well. We're aching for the next seasons of Legend of Korra and Once Upon a Time.

@QueenBex- Despite the topic and nature of Hannibal, it is seriously one of the most beautiful shows on television. The cast is brilliant and... I don't think I have any points against watching the show. I don't want to say too much, but I highly recommend it. I was so happy when it came back.

I've seen one of the Miss Marples...I think it was Geraldine Mcewan....she was pretty old but awesome. I also watched through A Touch of Frost starring David Jason. Took me forever, but I thoroughly enjoyed the series. I'll have to look at Midsomer Murders. I've seen it around on Netflix, but didn't know anything about it.QueenBex wrote:Good old British detectives! If you liked Poirot you'll like Miss Marple, played by Geraldine Mcewan and Julia Mckenzie especially, they own it just like David Suchet owns Poirot. Julia took over when Geraldine passed away, but they cast her well, a perfect person to continue the series! Oh and the black and white ones are good too, can't recall her nane but she has a dodgy mouth and loads of humour.Kareesh wrote:@QueenBex: I loved Rosemary and Thyme. I watched all of them on Netflix once. Gotta love the British detective stories. I also watched through Agatha Christie's Poirot and enjoyed that as well.Midsomer Murders is another detective show, a bit more intense then Rosemary and Thyme, longer episodes and for longer running too.

I've never watched Dr. Who. I've made the scarves because a temporary housemate asked me to and other people requested them, but I've never watched it. I just finished all of the seasons of Psych on Netflix, but other than that, I haven't been watching much. I was thinking of brushing off my * as Folk dvds and watching them through. I got through the first two seasons and haven't had a chance to get back to them in years because of the lack of time away from people who would ruin the experience for me. Same with LOST. I have them all but no time to watch them without a peanut gallery that would ruin it.
As for anime, I always liked subbed over dubbed. I have watched Fushigi Yuugi, Ceres and some Macross Plus.

no_need wrote:I'm loving Castle at the moment. Nathan Fillion is one of my favourite actors ever. In fact, as I type this I'm watching Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog (love NPH as well!).

Currently watching Breaking bad (4 eps in) and the first series of Pokemon (4 eps in again) as we've just found them on Netflix. When I have time to myself (which isn't very often at the moment!) I've been watching TNG.
Currently attempting: Epic Pokemon Cross Stitch Gen I, M'aiq the Liar

Re: What are you watching now and why?
I prefer subs. We put subtitles on pretty much everything we watch because my husband and I have different native languages. He's perfectly fluent in English but it's still nice to have subs because sometimes accents can throw him. Now I'm used to having them on and it's weird when we're watching something without them. I keep glancing at the bottom of the screen anyway. I find that I can stitch and watch a show with subs ok. Not as good as without, but I can get some stitches in.
We can't watch much fun stuff right now because the kids think sleep is a luxury they just don't have time for. Lucky for us, our older daughter LOVES QI. She's got a little crush on Bill Bailey and jumps around the room screaming 'Billy Belly!!' whenever he speaks. Then she lets out this manic laugh like whatever he just said is the funniest thing every said in the history of ever.
Aside from that, we watch some Would I Lie to You, Doctor Who, Top Gear (the hubby likes it and I think it's pretty funny and a good stitching show). He also likes Comic Book Men, which I don't like so much but, again, good for stitching. I watch Grimm when it's just me.
Mainly, though, we watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Shaun the Sheep, Singing in the Rain, and Zand Kasteel. The best part of MMC is my younger daughter who is brutally honest. Mickey: 'Do you want to help us find Santa??!!' Younger daughter: 'Nooooooo' as she slowly shakes her head.

Currently re-watching Veronica Mars for what feels like the hundredth time but I still love it! Can't wait for the movie to come out though I have a sinking feeling it will be a straight to DVD here in Australia =(
When I'm done that I might re-watch Girls of the Playboy Mansion cos I'm pregnant and I feel like watching attractive women when I feel so blah!
As for the currently on air stuff I watch S.H.I.E.L.D., Once Upon A Time, Big Bang, Arrow, Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars and whatever else I can get my mits on, I'm not picky lol.
