Quilting help?

I am wanting to learn how to quilt. I am currently expecting and would like to make a quilted baby blanket. Can anyone direct me to any good books for learning? Or any resources I should check out? Anything would be appreciated

Congratulations on the bun in the oven! I've been looking to learn how to quilt myself and have found a great youtube series that takes you step by step through making a quilted baby blanket. I *think* it was the Missouri Star Quilting Company's youtube channel. I'm pretty sure it was a 4 part series that took you through the major steps, it was a great tutorial!

That book is exactly what I was looking for. I don't know the first thing about quilting and am nervous to start and find out that I'm not using the right resources lol

It has a full walkthrough on making a crib sized quilt ^_^

I've been using it to work on my first quilt(s) and have had good success with it!

Here is an image of a quilt I am working on for my father-in-law using this websites walkthrough, I still need to do the *actual* quilting and binding.

Thank you That is so cute! I can't wait to get started. I don't know anything about quilting yet, so I'm hoping these suggestions will open some doors for that!!

Everytime someone asks about how to learn to quilt, I ALWAYS suggest to take a class. Quilting is one of those crafts that you may not pick up enough from watching a video or a book. It is much better to learn from an actual person that could answer any questions you might have.

For example, a quilt book may tell you to iron the seam a certain way, but they don't explain the need for nested seams so when you quilt it together you don't have a large lump in the middle of the quilt.

Joanns always has beginner classes and take a look at your local quilt shops. Even if they don't have a class going on, they may have a number for someone that could give you a private lesson. Learning from a person is definitely worth it.

I took a look on line and there is a Joanns with classes 60 miles from you in Hesperia, Ca. Here is their class schedule. http://www.joann.com/static/education/c ... g_2270.pdf. They have a basic quilting class that is only 2.5 hours. I would highly suggest it.

Or like I said, you could search for local quilt shops around you.

Actually because of where I live, I am about 95 miles away from Hesperia. Taking a class is pretty much a no-go because there aren't any craft shops near me. I checked for groups on post here and NO ONE quilts. My mom suggested I learn crochet instead because it's easier to get the supplies and way less expensive.
