I don't know how many of you know about this, but I don't recall seeing it mentioned here on the forums. (Of course, that might just be my failbrain, I have so much to read when I'm around here, lol.)
Anyway, this is StitchSketch, made by Keiji who also makes KGChart. It's basically a mobile version of KG for use on iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod etc). Could be interesting for you peoples who like your Apples
From its description
max size 64x64 ???
Generic Colour Chart - from the screen shots its looks like it just gives you RGB and not the DMC or other palette to choose from...
I broke down and went ahead and bought this last week. In my opinion, skip it. It isn't worth it.
It is completely different than KG chart and I was very disappointed. You are given a grid that you can use colors to design your own cross stitch. You can also convert pictures to cross stitch programs. You are able to save the patterns and bring them up again any time you like.
The problems? Well the first and the biggest is IT DOESN'T TELL YOU WHICH DMC COLOR IT IS! You can use colors, but it doesn't tell you what colors they are!! The second major problem I have is there is no way to send the pattern off of the ipad, or have other patterns be sent to the ipad. I even tried to download a pattern off of Sprite Stitch and was given an option of opening it in StitchSketch, but it didn't work at all and didn't even open.
So this is a huge disappointment and a pass for now. If they improve it, I will let everyone know.
As of ver 1.04 (released July 31, 2012), StitchSketch comes with Color Charts (palette) for DMC®, DFT, COSMO, Delica, Toho Best, Perler Beads®, and the maximum chart size is increased to 250 x 250.
Hopefully this help you do your work.
Bumping this!
Tnitnetny, do you still have this app? Looks like there's been at least one more update since the v1.04...
Looks like it does DMC now.

I do, and it is fine for making something from scratch, but you can't import anything to it. I want an app on my ipad that I can import a design or pattern into that already exists.
Making from scratch while I'm not near the computer is more what I'm thimking of at the moment, how easy is it to use?
What about exporting the file? How does that work?
