I love sprite stitch and all...
But I wish that Super Mario and Zelda weren't the only type of games that people mostly post patterns or completed projects of.. I wish there were more people that posted ones for anime and more recent games. Like Bioshock, or Little Big Planet, or Soul Eater, or Haruhi Suzumiya.. Etc..
Does anyone else feel that way?

8-bit moves into patterns easier than newer high resolution artwork.

Re: I love sprite stitch and all...
Yeah I agree. It's hard for me because I try to sell my stuff, and almost everything I have is 8-bit or 16-bit. It's just easier and less time consuming for me to just rip a pattern from a sprite sheet then sit for hours and make something by hand. I'm trying to make stuff from newer games, and it helps that things like Bit Trip and Nyan Cat and MegaMan 10 are sprite based. Personally I got into sprite art because I love retro game, so most of the stuff I make will always be older games. That, and nostalgia will always sell.

Re: I love sprite stitch and all...
You read my mind.....
I'm actually just about finished with some Borderlands / BioShock / Little Big Planet / Icewind Dale patterns I've been working on. I have a three day weekend and I'm not tired at all right now, so I'll work on them now and have them posted tomorrow
I love all the 8 bit stuff - but it's nice to see other types of patterns on here as well - my advice is ask and ye shall receive.
: People tend to be really responsive to pattern requests and you can get just about anything you want.
I find that the biggest problem with the newer stuff is it has to be decent size to get the detail to look decent - so while it's freaking awesome when you're done - you're looking at huge projects that aren't going to fit on a bookmark - I like the bigger stuff, so I'm okay with it - but I know a lot of people that prefer smaller projects that can be made into bookmarks, cards, etc... with a shorter finish time.
Good topic, idea, though - hopefully it will inspire people and we'll see a good mix of the classics and newer stuff!

I agree, too. I like Mario and Zelda but I love to see different things too. I'm big on trying to get Sega stuff (old and new) more stitchy love, as well as things that I'm into, like Shining Force, Phantasy Star, The Elder Scrolls, etc. Personally I'm not a huge fan of things like Bioshock or Borderlands but if the projects are good or interesting I enjoy them anyway.
What I like to see more than anything else is a good idea - even if it's of a subject matter that is used a lot.
The fact is that everyone wants to stitch things they are interested in, and when you've scoured the interwebs for help but got nothing, you come here

Re: I love sprite stitch and all...
The fact that 8 and 10 bit games are easier to stitch is very true. And I understand that, I acctually have quite a few patterns from here saved on my Kindle. I just would like a tiny bit more variety. Everyone and their mother makes Super Mario and Zelda (though, don't get me wrong, I love them too), something new would be nice, that's all. I do have a question though while people are posting here.
There is a site that is dedicated to sprites. And you can get sprites from video games, anime, movies... You get the point.. How do you use the sprites from there to make a pattern? for me, the pictures are just too small.. Is there a trick for how to put it into KG Chart or something?? Help would be greatly appriciated

Re: I love sprite stitch and all...
Absolutely - I spent a bunch of time looking for some decent "geek" patterns to do, and there's a sad lack of them - while you might find one or two here or there, this is really the only place I've found where there's a good active community and a whole list of patterns **rolls around in the pile of printed patterns**blackmageheart wrote:The fact is that everyone wants to stitch things they are interested in, and when you've scoured the interwebs for help but got nothing, you come here

Re: I love sprite stitch and all...
In the stitching programs there's usually an option to import an image. In KG it can be found in the File menu, same for PCStitch (can't say for other programs because it's been so long since I used any others!) - then you get size / count / colour options etckasura_iome wrote:There is a site that is dedicated to sprites.
