Help needed - Fractional Stitches

I'm getting close to the end of a project, and I've just realised there are several fractional stitches ahead. In the past, I've done fractional stitches (half, quarter and 3 quarters) around the edges of projects, where just one colour has been used. The kit I'm doing at the moment has 2 fractional stitches in the same square, and I'm a little confused as to the best way to do them!
Here's what I mean:

I'm just a bit concerned about keeping the coverage looking even throughout - I considered doing 2 quarter stitches, but thought it would look a bit odd.
Suggestions welcomed!

I would do 3/4 stitches in one colour and use the other colour to do a quarter stitch to finish the stitch off if that makes sense?

That's exactly what I would do. I'm working on a little penguin right now & I used the pic of the finished project & placement of the backstitching to choose which colour would be 1/4 & which would be 3/4 (the pattern gave no indication). Also if you do the 3/4 stitches last I find they look better.

In the kits I've done before they usually tell you to do quarter stitches of each color in the corners where the symbols are printed. This is because you usually backstitch over them and the backstitch "completes" the cross...
But, seeing as none of these are "completed" with a backstitch I'd do what QueenBex and stitchingmama suggested and use 3/4 and a 1/4 stitch for these.
