Re: What does your username mean?
I'm new here, so this is one of my first posts. Nice to meet you all.
I chose Arachne because I've always been fond of spiders, insects and the like, and I was usually the one called on to get rid of spiders, bees, etc., if they were in the classroom. I never like killing them and usually put them outside. I kill wasps and mosquitoes, though.
Anyway, when I was little I used to listen to a collection of Greek myths on tape, and I always liked the story of Arachne, the first spider. Apparently, she was once a woman, a weaver who made beautiful tapestries and boasted that she was a better weaver than Athena. So, of course, Athena decided to see her and put it to the test. Athena, of course, won.
In the original version (I think) Arachne tried to hang herself and Athena turned her into a spider and her noose into her thread. The version I heard was a little more kid-friendly than the original, because Arachne in that version only swore that she would never weave again, and Athena said that it would be a waste and turned her into a spider.
In any case I always liked the story, and it fits into how much I like crafting. I've been doing a lot of off-loom bead weaving, so it fits.

Re: What does your username mean?
Not much too special with my username.
Back in the day of highschool I used to Role Play with dice (I still have all my dice!). Efrite was the most developed character I had. She started as a Gold elf, then some gods got fickle and mixed her with a fire genasi/human person.
She used to be a short-tempered ranger. Now she's a short-tempered Emperess who can control natural fires at will.
Phrase of choice when she's irritated? "Big flame!" As she spreads her hands out infront of her. *FWOOSH* goes the fire..

Oh damn! I just realised there's a Lady Aracne on this forum. We could share, or I could switch to another username (i use others sometimes). I'm not as much a weaver as if I did more cross-stitching.

Mine's not too special... But this is how it goes :
I needed a name for my World of Warcraft character, and a character name generator came up with Caiella, which I'm now using for my night elf druid. I decided I liked the name, so I've kept it for a screen name as well =D

Re: What does your username mean?
Some interesting name stories here
Mine's not all that. Basically I was undecided what job to take on Final Fantasy XI, I had wanted to be a White Mage but my now ex was already that job... a friend said to me I had the heart of a Black Mage and would suit it better than White. Turns out that friend was right - I really enjoyed playing as that job! And the reason for using the name now is because I wanted to remember the past while staying away from my usual online names.
A bit boring but there you go! ^^
EDIT: Thought I should add, my forum avatar is a chibi of my FFXI character that I drew ^^

Re: What does your username mean?
My name was actually sort of given to me by a good friend of mine. Like a lot of people i was lazy when it came to having a backpack and so i only carried it on one arm, my right arm. Every so often my backpack would slide down my shoulder a bit when I was walking which annoyed me to no end so I would jerk my shoulder up in what seemed like a twitching motion to my friend. One day he just started pointing it out and saying "dude why are you twitching? hey everybody check it out ryan is twitching over here! Look at him twitch hahahahaha!" My friend thought everything around him was funny. When I was thinking of a screen name for my first online game, counter-strike, I had always thought that it should be something that was kind of given to me from someone like a nickname for a club or something that had a story to it. I though of Twitch and liked it but oh no! There was already a Twitch online, so i thought of something to go in front of it. Brace yourselves for lameness. The number I though of, 13014, was nothing more than my high school ID number. I couldnt think of anything else that wasnt already overused so I stuck with it and after a while it stuck with me and that is the magical tale of how i got my screen name.
Farore, give me courage!

Re: What does your username mean?
In every group I am in, invariably I am the one marked as "the geek". Even if there are other geek-leaning people around. I'm the one that fixes all the tech, the one that explains quantum physics, the one that quotes Star Trek and Babylon 5 at random intervals. A lot of people I talk to refer to their "resident expert" so I have kind of become the "resident geek" in most situations.

Mine's just dumb. It's my favorite color misspelled (on purpose) and my favorite characture.
Oh, and by the way Liquidkarma, I think it is an interesting story. (Better than mine.
