Yeah, I just remembered this. But if we can't put a link, can we at least just drop Sprite Stitch's name in there? Either way I'll be waiting until a) you hear more and b) some of this cold I have wears off (some choice words may accidentally escape!)Servotron wrote:Also, nobody leave links in the reviews to the actual patterns, it is against Amazon's terms and conditions.

Re: Pattern Theft
Gah, this has annoyed me so much. Anyway, I've left a couple of reviews on two of the zelda ones to counter a positive review that they had. This person has posted them under the name JGSP so if you put that into the kindle store you can get a list of all the patterns they have put up.

Re: Pattern Theft
I just did this on the Boo pattern, which is from the 2012 charity quilt. We'll see what happens. The page is here: http://amzn.com/B00A2ZH33Ublackmageheart wrote:Yeah, I just remembered this. All of the "books" they sell also seem to be CC or out of copuright works so whoever this seller is, they are a scumbag trying to make a quick buck.

Re: Pattern Theft
I read one review of some lady who bought one and said that it was all just a bunch of numbers and was * 'cause she paid $5 for it. When I do a preview of all "his" cross stitch patterns, just a bunch of numbers that I can't figure out. Maybe at the end of the book there's some key, but I dunno. If I really wanted to, I could "borrow" it, being a Prime member, but I don't really want to. That and I share the account with my dad and brother who also use the Lending Library.

Re: Pattern Theft
I got my sister to borrow one (I have a Prime account that I let my siblings use) - the Medusa pattern that I did as a request here on the forums.Kareesh wrote:I read one review of some lady who bought one and said that it was all just a bunch of numbers and was * 'cause she paid $5 for it. Inside the doc is a bunch of numbers and symbols that I assume is meant to be the pattern. There's not any gridlines but there are occasional numbers like 10, 20, etc which I'm guessing are the stitches. Probably looks better printed out than on Kindle. I also noted that the colour list and size was identical to the one I made and edited so there's not a chance that someone made a pattern out of the same picture.
Same for the Boondock Saints one.
Also, I saw that Boo one and I was cross because that was a charity piece. Then I saw...I think it was katdun's? Hit The Books piece and they even used her actual photo for the image - the one she submitted to a challenge last year - needless to say I was fuming.
I'm gonna see about leaving some reviews and possibly reporting something.

Re: Pattern Theft
Well I've not heard anything back from Amazon so I think leaving reviews on the patterns is the way to go. I don't know how this person has converted the patterns over to the kindle but it looks like it doesn't recognise the grid or the symbols on the patterns, hence why it is just a list of numbers. I would guess that the lists of numbers are the grid counts that run up the sides of the grids.

Re: Pattern Theft
Really?! That sucks. I just found it. http://www.amazon.com/Marios-Books-Need ... B009ZZDLJI I don't understand how people think that's okay. I started a discussion on the page and submitted a review... Is there a way to report the seller or is there something else I can do about it?blackmageheart wrote:Then I saw...I think it was katdun's? Re: Pattern Theft
The review I posted reads:
"Do not buy from this seller, they steal free/not copyrighted materials. This pattern is available for free on the Sprite Stitch Forum."
I gave it one star. It's still up there.

Re: Pattern Theft

Just noticed this post and it made me quite upset.
I made that Boo pattern for the quilt to donate, to do something good in this world. And this person is trying to profit from something good that I tried to do. How sad! Off to post a negative review.

I know Jadely. >:( I half expected my Spyro one to show up on there too. They might not put it up there though because my patterns all CLEARLY state that they are under a CC license.

Were you the one who "found my review helpful"? I laughed pretty hard at the email I got about that. I mean come on Amazon, let me just report the seller... sheesh. This is lame.
