When I first started out last year, I wasn't very subtle about how I added it in, lol. Look at my previous postings to see what I mean. Now, I try to make it unobtrusive. It's fairly small, so that's not too hard to do. My goal with large projects is for nobody to know where it is except for me (unless they're foolish enough to look really, really hard!) The charity quilt submissions I'm working on will be the first stitchings I make without the tag. It makes me feel slightly disappointed, if I'm being honest. I know, I know, silly.
BTW, the tag is a graffiti mashup of my initials, JNC.
Nice monogram! I like the idea of semi-secret tag It makes it unique, personal so I know what you mean

I just use my initials in backstitch HMP, but I use the right side of the H and the left side of the P to form the left and right sides of the M and then the last two digits of the year after it. Quick example made in KG Chart:

I usually put it on the outside of the finished design and backwards so you would have to "open" the frame to see it. I've been debating on creating a signature and actually putting it on the piece, unobtrusively, for if/when I actually start selling pieces, but I think I'd probably want something representative of the shop name I would use (which I have already figured out and have claimed on Etsy, but haven't actually posted anything for sale, yet).

Here's what I came up with for you. One is a backstitched paw the other a cross stitched paw. They could be combined if you used a medium grey for the backstitch if you wanted to. They are only 7x7 each, so about half of what you came up with which would be very unobtrusive I think.
Here is a sample of what it looks like, and this is the real size. For this one I used 310 for the paw and 317 for the outline. I also tried to put an M T in the middle to see if it works, and it does but you might have to do that in a diffrent color thread for it to show properly if you wanted to do that.
Sofara, that paw looks awesome! It would be perfect as a signature. I think it would look just as cute without the backstitching, but that's just me and my unwarranted loathing of it. This has definitely gotten me to thinkin' about how I could sign my work with something symbolic instead of just my name. Hmm....
The reason I did both was I thought the back stitching would blend easier and be sort of hidden, but still be there, representitive of the person who made it. The cross stitch one while the same size is more visible, so if you wanted to sign your work, but wanted it to not be so visible, you could do the backstitch one but if you wanted it to be more visible you could do the cross stitch one or as I said in the post where I put the sample pic, you could combine both if you wanted. It's totally personal preference. I don't mind backstitching at all, but I know some people out there don't like it.
It really is great. I'm so glad that I found this forum because of the people like you who are generous enough to spend time helping others with their projects and ideas. Everyone here is so inspiring and thoughtful!
Oh MY GOSH! Thank you so much Sofara! That paw is awesome and I love the idea of backstitching a MT in it as well. Thank you Queen B, as well, for wanting to attempt it.
Can't wait to start signing my paw on the dotted squares! :D
