Re: DMC color chart with actual thread
I've seen them in stores but never felt that they were worth the cost. I think they retail for $20-$30, it's been a while so I forget.
I haven't seen any recently though and I have to admit I just finished purchasing all the colors so I no longer need one.

Re: DMC color chart with actual thread
I'll be honest, ive never been sold on the real thread guides. Probably cause these are just that- at best, guides. Different dye batches can, and usually are, slightly different. if you're trying to match thread to thread, if you don't know the dye batch, you could be SOL.

Re: DMC color chart with actual thread
I've never had a problem with DMC color - they are usually pretty consistent. But when I reorganized everything I did discover that I have two bright pink skeins with the same number that ARE NOT the same color - and it's not slightly off, it's way off and idk which one is right. If I can find them I'll take a photo, always good to have irl examples I guess.Eliste wrote:I'll be honest, ive never been sold on the real thread guides. I'd rather have the dye examples- its what they're aiming for with their dye jobs.kuja.girl wrote: I've never had a problem with DMC color - they are usually pretty consistent. Re: DMC color chart with actual thread
I'm with Eliste on this one - I'm not particularly fond of them. I've had some wildly different thread colours due to the different dye batches. It's even recommended by DMC and other manufacturers (particularly for large projects) that you buy all the thread you will need in one go and try to ensure they are from the same batches in case of differences in colour.
But, having said all that, as a general guide (and I mean very general) they aren't terrible.

Re: DMC color chart with actual thread
Well seeing as how I have not had any luck finding one and after what kuja.girl, eliste and blackmageheart have said and pointed out I think I can live without one and as far as using it for making patterns I shall just use the one I already have. Thanks for everyones input ended up saving me some $.

Found what you're looking for I think!
http://www.shopdmc.com/ecommerce/Catalo ... 8&IID=1048
That link isn't very descriptive, but Googling the product number shows it does have actual thread samples of each color and not just a printed card.
