Estate sale cross stitch jackpot!

Post by jmann »

We hit an estate sale two weekends ago and found a paper bag there. I looked inside and it was bursting with cross stitch floss. After spreading it out on the the table, and sorting it, it came to a grand total of over 650 skeins of floss and several DMC thread color sample books for $10!

The people selling it clearly didn't know what it was worth. We've spent that past week or so picking out the colors we didn't already have, winding, sorting, and storing them.

I don't understand how that fit in a "paper bag". You probably don't need all those thread colour sample books, are you going to put them on eBay? I can't find the original with actual floss anymore but I remember them being listed for a lot.

The bag was bursting. Everything was in a large paper grocery bag that was tied at the top. The old lady who owned it had them sorted in individual ziplock bags and all shoved them in there with the sample books at the bottom. There is a bunch of glittery floss, variegated floss, and yarn stuff that I didn't include in the photo.

I plan to keep the thread color sample books. I have a good amount of floss that I need to ID because the numbers got lost (this was before I got more organized).
