Re: What does your username mean?

Mine comes originally from a manga called Vampire Game. There is a princess called Ishtar and I loved the name. Alas, Ishtar is very common now so usually it gets pulled out to Ishtarduzzie (Duzzel was the vampire king in the comic but he transformed into a cute baby cat... Ishtar used to call him Duzzie instead XD).

Mostly people assumes it comes from Yu-Gi-Oh! due to a guy being called it? Haven't ever watched.

Since then I also be asked if it was taken from the Mesopotamian goddess. She is called by several names: Ishtar, Astarte, Ištar and Inanna.

Since then I have gone a little crazy and looked up everything I can about Inanna. She is fascinating <3

She is the Assyrian and Babylonian goddess of fertility, war, love, and sex. [Disclaimer: I do not think I have ANYTHING in common with her, just her awesome back story is an added bonus to my nick]

Thanks to her I have a massive pile of history books I want to read, and I even did an assignment on her for Uni (very small one).

Have also gone by: raven_fox (wiccan obsession), tazjnr (dad worship = his nick Tazzie), ~SilverMoonDragon~ (can not remember I have liked the moon/night and family is dragon crazy)

Mine is actually the name of the very first character I created for a role-play-by-post website called Santharia. I'm actually now a CD (character description) mod there and still go under the name "Kareesh Valendar". For some reason, this nickname has stuck for whatever website I'm one. I also go by Shy422 (my nickname + my birthday).

Mine is from my old "web comic" blog, "LE POST-IT DU JOUR" ("Post-it of the Day") ; you can see a few of them here, repost on my newer crafting blog. There were two main characters : la Petite Bête ("the Little Beast", or "Animal" ; an owl - it's me !) and la Grosse Bête ("the big Beast" ; a wombat - it's my boyfriend !). All of our friends and family were drawn in their animal avatar. If I had enough time, I'd still draw, I miss it...

My name is my main's name in WoW (resto druid ftw!). I wish that I could say there was some thought put into it, but it was honestly a randomized name that I thought was pretty. It wasn't until later that I realized that Elle is 'she' in french. After using it for 5 or so years on WoW, I grew attached to it, and started using it for other things.

My username comes from the first five digits of my car's VIN number. I kept having to write down the VIN number to order specific parts, so I decided to memorize all but the last string of numbers that represents the production sequence. After a while my friend started to call my car Truut after seeing the VIN written down on a notepad in my car, and the name stuck. Sadly, even something that off the wall has been taken on a few sites (including XBOX live, so I ended up using the first 10 VIN digits), but for the most part Truut has been a guaranteed username for me to use.

Mine actually came about when I was needing a gamertag for my Xbox account. At the time I was doing nothing but knitting projects and when I asked his opinion he made a comment about me being his kitten and how everything was up to me (no help at all really). So I just took that and mashed it together. I've actually been using this for a few months on other accounts and I haven't had any problems with it.

I guess I've been using this screen name or some variations of it for a few years now. Originally, I went with StearicAcid (it's an ingredient in the cream I was using on my tattoos lol). That was great until I stumbled across a site where the name was already taken *tear*. At some point that day I had heard the word "miasma" and decided that would be a good substitute, since it has my name in it (and so what if it means putrid stench? It sounds cool haha). So now all my usernames are some variation of those two combined, hence acidMiasma.
This is fun. I like reading about how people come up with their names.
