Oh my poor fingers

Post by peas_and_love »

I have been unpicking for the last 7 and a half hours! I'm fairly sure I have blisters on two of my fingers and was so engrossed in finishing that I forgot lunch. Unemployment and cross stitching don't necessarily impact well on my health.
Does anyone have any horrifying unpicking stories? I somehow can't believe mine is the worst despite my wrecked fingers :P

Oh man that's awful!

I currently have a case of tennis elbow from playing extended Wii Sports with family... so ... mutual pain.

At the end of the last big swap I was cross-stitching so often that my thumb became really really sensitive because the back of the needle kept poking into it when I'd push it through the cloth. Casualties in cross-stitching!

Honestly, I don't even bother unpicking unless it's a frickin' MASSIVE mistake! I do sympathize with you, though. It's never fun to unpick, regardless of size. On the odd occasions that I do unpick I usually tangle the remaining thread beyond recovery and have to cut it all away. NOT COOL STITCHING GODS!

Just unpicked 50 stitches that were one stitch out, thats annoying, so I can't imagine 7 hours of unpicking! :swoon:

I confess unless its a major mistake I leave it in. If everything is a row or two out I'll unstitch, but if its a stitch or two to one side or the other I find I can often cut the offending stitch, unpick two or three, then tie down the thread without unstitching the whole row. This may be quite common, but it only occurred to me very recently :p

I tend to usually leave them in as well because I HATE unpicking. I like to think of it as...my unique touch! :D I did do a two-hour unpick for about an hour's worth of sewing because of extra tangles and such. The sensitive and sore fingers is why I ended up getting a thimble. lol

I spent an entire night unpicking because I was a good 3 rows off... If I hadn't fixed it, it would have looked terrible... I decided I wouldn't go to bed until I unpicked everything. I ended up going to bed at 4 AM... so I totally feel your pain!! XD
