Do you make anything especially for yourself?
I was working on my Epic Pokemon Gen 1 earlier today and obviously I'm keeping that baby for myself, but it got me thinking that this is the first project I've worked on that will be exclusively for myself, I give pretty much everything else I make away as gifts. Are you guys that way as well? It just got me thinking and now I'm curious!

I'm selfish, 80% of what I make is for me. Now that my friends are becoming baby factories that might change a bit....

Almost all of what I make is for myself- except the baby quilts.

Re: Do you make anything especially for yourself?
I used to make things for myself but these days it's very rare. I am working on something for myself for once but it always seems to get sidelined for projects for other people!

Re: Do you make anything especially for yourself?
Most of my projects seem like they're for other people, even if it winds up being self-serving. My challenge pieces are slated for framing to hang on my daughters' walls, so in some sense those are kind of self-indulgent. Then there's the swap (where I got awesome stuff in exchange) and the SECRET PROJECT (where I'll be getting my piece back... eventually). So I guess I can't claim that I'm sacrificing much.
Though I did start my winter holiday gifts in June, and I don't expect the same kind of return on those efforts.

Re: Do you make anything especially for yourself?
So far I've given everything I make away, but most of the time I find something I like, make it, and then don't have a use for it so I figure out who would like it. Family members get a lot of random tea towels
. I'm sending out St. Patricks day and xmas towels to grandparents right now since I don't decorate for holiday but I like making the patterns. I've also discovered I'm terrible at requests or deadlines so no one can rely on me to make them something specific.

I was just talking to my fiance about this a few weeks ago, I don't think I have ever actually stitched anything for myself in the 10 years I have been cross stitching lol!
^_~ I think I need to change that quick!

Re: Do you make anything especially for yourself?
In the last 18 years, I have kept precisely two cross-stitches for myself and the second one I just finished last year! It doesn't help that it takes me FOREVER to finish anything! Having too many crafting hobbies is not always a good thing!

Re: Do you make anything especially for yourself?
Most of mine have been for me so far, but I am starting to plan lots of others for xmas gifts etc. I guess part of it is I wanted to get good at stitching and framing before I started giving things to other people
