Stitching for Charity 2012

Post by tnitnetny »

Our quilt for 2011 was a huge success so let's do it again!

Rules
* You must use 16 count white/off-white/cream aida (NO colored Aida!)
* at least 15" x 15" total canvas size (it will be cut down before quilting, but there must be extra to cut)
* 96x96 stitch working space (6" x 6")
* Every square within your 96x96 must be stitched. This is for a quilt so there can not be any open unstitched squares.
* This is fun and for charity. No negativity.

Your choice of what to stitch
* Must be a scene from a video game, no original creations or just logos. It can be an opening or closing shot, the scene doesn't have to be within the game.
* Please only one scene per game to make the quilt(s) interesting. Games from last year can be repeted, but try to do a different scene.
* Once you know your scene, sign up on the spreadsheet so there are no repeats. Feel free to make more then one square, just put them all on the spreadsheet.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... Ew2M0YycEE
There is a space for your name on the spreadsheet if you want the Certificate that accompanies the quilt to show it.
* Here are the squares from last year: http://tnitnetny.deviantart.com/art/Chi ... -258291095

Where to send your finished squares
Toni Smith
2103 Crossgate Drive
Crofton, MD 21114
They MUST be received in my hands no later then September 1st (preferrably August 1st) of 2012.

Please make sure you follow the rules exactly. If you send me a square that doesn't have the extra material around the square, I can't use it. If you use colored aida, I can't use it. If you send it after the deadline, it will be too late.

I will fill in as many squares as we need with embroidery and can make more then one quilt, so there is no limit to the amount of squares you want to make. Feel free to make one, or be like Blackmageheart and make a ton (I swear that woman is a machine), the choice is yours.

Happy Stitching!!

Of course! Try to only sign up for ones you are currently working on, or you know you will finish in time. That way games are still available for others.

Also, please feel free to make patterns for others to use if you want!

We might also want to say that every square within the 96x96 needs to be stitched. That means all backgrounds, even if they are white, need to be stitched in white thread.

I'm having trouble picking a game but I'll confirm my choice later and alter the spreadsheet if I have to! :) I'm assuming we have to pick a game that's actually been released! The husband will be changing jobs to work at a different video game company soon and he wants me to stitch something from his new game but it probably won't even be out by the time the quilt gets finished! I'm trying to tell him that I can't do that!!

My two possible squares. I believe all the pokémon sprites were originally made by craftmaster, so mad props to em. You said no logos, so I wanted to check before starting this one. (That's going to be a lot of black stitches, but I think the effect would be wonderful). If not, I have a second idea.

Is the first one a scene from a game? Or is it a mix of sprites from games? We want scenes from games and not just sprites. Look at the first quilt to get an idea. The second one I think is ok, because doesn't it flash like that in the game? If not, then find the scene where they yell objection and use that! :D

I went back and looked again and we did take sprites if they were done in a visibly appealing way, like the Rydia and the Dr Mario. So the first one is definitely ok!

Just double checked the iOS version and it flashes both on a black background (rarely) and over top of normal conversation (regularly). Still good?
