QueenBex, yup that is perfectly fine.
Awenmir - Nice job! That is definitely acceptable. If you watched my creation video you will see that I mix up light and dark squares so don't worry about the darkness of it. I would advise you bring the entire pattern with you when you get thread and eyeball everything to make sure there will be enough of a difference in colors that you can see what it is.

Thanks for the feedback everyone
, I'm looking forward to getting started!
tnitnetny- Ah yes, after scrolling through the forums a bit, I've heard all about the dodgy-ness of KG's colour selections! I usually order my threads online, but it sounds like it's worth checking things out in person this time.

Re: Stitching for Charity 2015
Funkymonkey is amazing. She spent the last few weeks making tutorials on how to create cross stitch patterns so it is easier for everyone to create awesome squares!
I am going to do a feature on Thursday about it on Craft Hackers but wanted to get them up here as soon as possible for everyone to see.
Part 1 Getting Started - http://youtu.be/j9QnNZnqDKc
Part 2 Importing and Exporting with KG Chart - http://youtu.be/S8koN_vrv1w
Part 3 Importing and Exporting with PC Stitch - http://youtu.be/Vx7WyY2kvOE
I also updated the first post with these videos. If you learn something, thank funkymonkey!
Oh and if there is anyone else that would like to make any tutorial videos for Craft Hackers (and promote your store or blog) send me a message. I would love to have more to feature.

Re: Stitching for Charity 2015
Mine's pretty dark as well because it's a night scene. LOL!
And awesome Funkymonkey! I'll have to take a look and see if I can get some pointers.
I am changing my second square to Super Mario 3D Land and have a couple of scenes I've cut that I think would be good to work with but can't decide which one I want to work on cleaning up so I might ask you guys to help me decide (and maybe help me clean them up a bit too)!
Which one do you guys think I should do? I am leaning toward the Tanooki Bills, personally but I'm not sure. LOL!

I like the Tanooki Bills or the Land Enemies the best.

They all look great! Love the colors on the Land Enemies scene!

Re: Stitching for Charity 2015
Alright the land enemies seems to be the winner (which I have since found out are called Biddybuds lol). LOL! I'll work on getting it presentable (unfortunately I couldn't find a png of it so it's pretty messy since I had to save it that way from a jpg).
On another note...I just posted an update of my current square on Facebook and since I don't have everybody over there figured I'd update here too! Seven out of ten colors have been finished. All that's left are the big three now...the purple being the current one I'm working on.

Here is my WiP shot for this week. Taken just a few mins ago on my back porch.
The patch of blue half stitches is where I am currently working.

Looks great, guys!!!
I really need to post a WIP of my Gardening Mama 2 Forest Friends square...I'm 2/3 or so done with the first page. Mom's started on the Hello Kitty one (can't remember the full name of the game and I'm too lazy to go click on the Google Docs link
), but hasn't been able to stitch lately (upcoming card workshops and we're both suffering from being addicted to Farmville 2 on our Kindles
)
