Ok, here we go. I have washed, ironed, and trimmed all of the squares and they are ready for quilting! Now to decide layouts. Here again is the layout with the numbers:

Here is what I was thinking of for Quilt 1:

Here is what I was thinking of for Quilt 2:

I tried to seperate squares that were alike, or if someone made multiple squares I tried to put at least one in each quilt. So here is what I want for feedback:
1) How is the color scheme? Are there any squares that should be moved around?
2) If you did more than one square, did I put at least one in each quilt?
3) I was thinking of quilt 1 for the dinner auction and quilt 2 for ebay

When you make suggestions, please refer to the numbers. For example, "I think square 3 in quilt 1 should be switched with square 5 in quilt 1" would be a great way to word a suggestion. I have the Baltimore Comic Convention this weekend, so I won't be able to work on them again until at least Monday, maybe later. So there is plenty of time to discuss it.

Glad to see the Bubble Bobble square made it into the layout! :tease: :P

In quilt one, maybe we could swap the positions of squares 10 and 19 so that there's a darker square next to the white Sprite Stitch one? In quilt two, maybe we could swap the positions of squares 12 and 17 to break up the green and maroon squares at the bottom a little bit? Otherwise I think they look pretty good!

My squares are in both quilts! I'm still on the fence about whether to use Ebay or the auction...

tnitnetny wrote:That is actually a really great idea. Some people signed up for some squares they never completed. Allow them to sign up for 1 square, when they post a pic of the completed square they can sign up for another one. That would hopefully cut down on people taking games others want to do and then not doing them.

I will keep it in mind when I make next years. :D

I like that idea but at the same time I don't beacause there are those of us who signed up for and finished all of our said squares.
Yeah, but everyone ends up signing up for all the ones they want immediately just so nobody else can take it. Then the majority of them forget about it or get too busy to even finish their first one. I think limiting each person's reserves to one or two at a time will prevent people from hoarding all the popular ones right away.

All the squares look amazing, by the way! Seeing the great designs is inspiring me to try a more complicated pattern for next year! I got a new job at a hotel recently, and I can do homework or cross stitch or whatever I want during slow periods, so maybe I can manage more than one this time around :D I think I'll hold off on starting until the sign-up is open, though, just in case someone steals my first choice :P

This is true but at the same time it is not really "fair" because it gives the advantage to whoever gets online first. Everyone should have a chance to sign up for at least 1 of their first or second choices right?
For example let's say my top choices are FFVII, Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario Bros. if those are taken I decide that I'd also like to do Pac Man. When look at the spreadsheet I see that all four games have been taken by people who all have all signed up for more than three games - that really restricts my choices and I might even get discouraged and decide not to participate.
^ Worst case scenario but I think you can see my point

No I get that totally! The same thing happened to me this year cause I caught the post a couple of days late. And originally I did just sign up for 3 and then added the others as I went.

I'm not opposed to the idea, rather just saying that there are several situations among us all that either allowed or disallowed people to get their squares done or not done. I just think that all sides need to be considered because let's face it, it's not really a conversation unless there's a little debate! :tease:

Oh, I started an argument! Awesome! :D
Everyone makes some valid points and debate is encouraged. I myself signed up for several, not anticipating a wrist injury, bronchitis and a number of personal matters that needed my attention (as well as a ton of other crafting and Sprite Stitch duties).
gamerwolff makes the point that she completed all her squares - there were a number of others that did so. However, signing up for one or two at a time should not be a problem for those people in any way because you will most likely be done quickly and therefore still have access to your top choices.
kuja.girl's point about becoming discouraged because your favourite stuff might already be taken is a good one - in a project as large as this motivation is key and everyone should have fair access to their top choices. That said, there are some rather popular games so some people will inevitably be disappointed. (This doesn't apply to me really because I have a million choices that nobody would really ever consider! :D)

I still think that going ahead with sign ups for one or two at a time may be more productive in terms of participants and number of squares. But perhaps the idea can be refined some more. I'll get my thinking Hat on. I want things to be fair for everyone!

On to other things:

@tnitnetny: Both my squares are in Quilt 1. They are #1 and #14 :D I don't mind if you want to keep them there, though. But if you were going to move one, I'd say swap #1 with something from Quilt 2 - don't ask me which one! :D
Also, Servotron's 2 squares are also both in Quilt 1. They are #7 and #12.

@gamerwolff: Yeah, you did 2 Kirby squares but they are different enough! What I was on about was more like (and I hope you'll forgive me for the example) Kingdom Hearts, where the games tend to have the same aesthetic style and a lot of titles to work with. Same with stuff like Pokémon, Sonic, Mario, older FF's, that sort of thing. I'm just kinda saying, let's not have say, 6 people all doing Series Y, but different titles from that series, because there are some people who don't know which game is which and will just think they are all the same game. If that makes sense. It's early and I'm only on my 2nd cup of tea :D
Oh and we should totally combine our forces sometime! :D :D :D

EDIT: And I've paypal'd you a donation tnitnetny, hope it helps :)

Wow, both quilts will be wonderful !!! :yahoo:  well done, Tritnetny ! (even if you move a couple of squares in between times)
This debate is fascinating, too bad my english isn't good enough to participate more ^^ but roughly I agree with BMH's points, understanding both Kuja and Gamerwolff points of view... (by the way, I was persuaded you were an guy, Gamerwolff... I learn everyday lol)
