So I decided for each game picked, I will make the border look like the controller of the console for the game. So for this one, I made it look like a SNES controller. I figured for the other game, I would go with the following controllers :

- Pokemon (original GB)
- Katamari Damaci (PSX/PS2/PS3 just the usual square, circle, X and triangle)
- Journey (PSX/PS2/PS3 just the usual square, circle, X and triangle)
- Dr Mario (NES)
- DDR (Something with the arrows on the DDR dance mat)
- Portal (I guess it's more of a PC game, but it's also on 360, so probably a 360 controller)
- Bubble Bobble (No clue...)
That's a great idea! Portal also came out for the PS3. So you have a wide choice on that one. And, according to a quick Wikipedia check, Bubble Bobble originally came out as an arcade game, so you could do the classic arcade buttons. :)

Ooh, Lileya! That's an awesome SNES border! Frankly, I think you should pattern it out in a program and put it up in the Patterns section. :nod

I love the video game controller border - very fitting - I've been having a hard time deciding what border to do as I want it to fit in well with all the bands so I may just wait until the end to do one.

Here is what i have so far - I'm doing it on 28 ct evenweave but I don't know if I should change to a 14 or 16 ct - it looks very tiny...

I'm glad people like the border! Thank you all for the kind words, I really appreciate it! :D

I will definitely post the pattern for it tonight when I get back home from work. If nobody can't come up with an idea for a border, feel free to use my pattern! :)

Oh and Kareesh, it also says on Wikipedia that Bubble Bobble was eventually ported on the NES so I would probably go with that as I'd love to make a NES inspired border! :) Unless Dr Mario and Bubble Bobble end up on the sampler together, I'll try your idea of the arcade buttons!

I have been wanting to try some blackwork for a while now and just finally decided to go for it and now I'm kinda in love with it. I want to put colored blackwork design in between the two black boarders but it will have to wait to see what color I want to do

Wow, I'm really impressed by all the elaborate blackwork borders that everyone is doing. I love the SNES border, Lileya! I actually had a somewhat similar idea, but my plan was to put a simple stripe of alternating light and dark purple circles below Super Mario Kart. I'm not sure yet if I want to frame the outside edges of the piece with anything.

Anyway, there's not that much more done since my last WIP photo, but this is all I'll be doing on the Super Mario Kart band until my next shopping trip for floss:

Man, I stink at photography. :sorry: The flash makes everything look a lot lighter and washed out than it does in person. I did use different colors to lighten up Yoshi a bit, but he's not quite THAT light in person. And the color on the tires definitely doesn't look that light and green normally. I probably could stitch some more with other substitutions, but I don't want to stitch the yellows and reds until I make sure the ones I buy will complement the others and have enough contrast.

What I've found with my camera is don't use the flash. Some cameras are really good about taking pictures without it and others aren't so much. Try to get as much natural/ambient light as possible, which will help with the not-needing-flash. What's weird about my flash is that the pictures turn out way darker than with my flash off. It's crazy....

Anywho, just some tips that I've picked up on photographing my various stitchings as well as food. :)

Thats beautiful, really awesome work!

I think this is an excellent opportunity to try out new things we might not have had the time for usually. Who doesn't love blackwork? I've done it before but I've been waiting for a chance to incorporate celtic design with it, this is the perfect time to have a go. So I encourage everyone to have a go at something new with this! I can't wait to see everyones finished products! :yahoo:

Man, this week has been terrible for free time. I'm so envious of everyone else. Here's all that I've done so far, in glorious Blur-D Vision:
