thank you!!! this was my needed distraction from last minute homework assignments. this did, however, make me have to stay up the whole night to finish my one paper, though. worth it to see it get a good review. not as good as spin's, but i think it's a contender. having only 3 entries thus far makes it easier, too

An open-ended game which allowed you to choose to be a bounty hunter under the flag of the Federation, ply the trade routes, or become a tyrannical space pirate and hold helpless colonies under siege! Take a sun setting and set course for SR-388!

Sid Meier's Pirates! was one of the first computer games I ever played, back on our IBM 286. My father enjoyed the trade aspects. I just wanted to get into swordfights.
