Sorry to hear that! I refurbished mine for $40 back in the day and have been over all pretty happy with them.

The Journey band:
The black glyphs are how the wanders communicate with each other. Each player is assigned one symbol per playthrough. I just chose ones I liked for the sampler band. The "pillar" in the middle with the ribbon is a marker - for what exactly, you learn later. the gold swirls are supposed to represents wind which the wanderers have a love/hate relationship with across the game :)

Ah, I see.

Yeah, we bought one of the first gen PS2s a couple of months after they came out (we had to save up for it because we couldn't just afford to drop almost $300 for one lol). Within 6 months of having it the thing would no longer play dvds or playstation 2 games and had erased the saves on both of my memory cards (just the fact I had Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 saves that were 3/4 of the way through the game or farther makes this particularly sore for me, not to mention other rpgs and long games)! When we called to see about having it fixed they used some bulls*** excuse to say our warranty was voided and it would cost us around $300 to get it fixed. So hubby has refused to buy another playstation since then.

Yeah, they often seem to have trouble with the original versions. Our original ps2 (that we won by being the top fundraiser for the ms readathon in ACT) eventally wore out, not through misuse, once its warranty had expired. By then the ps2 slims were cheap enough, so I bought one and it hasn't missed a beat since.

I know the original ps3's have had a lot of trouble with yellow lights of death (YLOD), they even extended the warranties on a certain batch because they were getting so many problems. After the warranty expired on my brothers's ps3 (not an original one) he got his first dual layer game only to find that his ps3 couldn't read it due to a manufacturing defect. After a long talk with sony they agreed to fix it for him for free thankfully.

I decided to get mine new, but only because I found a pretty good deal that was cheaper than a lot of the used ones on ebay.

Hey BMH could we have a separate forum for the finished samplers like we have for the charity squares? Will be easier to view and comment on them!

Certainly! I will do that shortly.

Can I also ask that at the end of the month, no matter how far you get in the sampler, that you all post a picture of it to show your participation. Thank you!

LOL! I keep trying to start but colours, time and what not keep stopping me.

Finally the first week's band is (mostly) done!

I have yet to do white/cream. Light was too dodgy to do.

First shot of my 'Blue/Willow China' rendition of sampler. Will also include blacks and greys.

I'm loving this effect! Can't wait to see more.

Here's a pic of mine, as of the 17th (I've done more since then, but have had issues trying to take a photo and upload a photo) I've ordered a couple of colours online, I'm hoping they turn up before the weekend!

I marked the aida before starting for the first time ever... and still managed to miscount!

I have to say watching this has been one of my favorite challenges to date. I really wish I had the time to take part, but I'm loving watching all the variations that crop up. So cool.

Ishtar, I love the Blue Willow version! I think maybe we should develop a stable of limited-color schemes - one for blues, one for sepias, and so on - which can be applied to full-color patterns.
