Moirae's Misc Stitches (FOs - December 2023)

I've dabbled in cross stitch and other crafts since I was a kid, but only started stitching in earnest the last year, year and a half. Just sharing what I have done or things I am currently working on.
My sister saw me doing some small cross stitching kits when I was staying with her last year, got excited and decided she wanted to learn and that we should do a project together. She bought a pattern she liked off etsy and the materials and we both started it, but she has the worst ADHD I've ever seen and got maybe 100 stitches into it at most. Thus ended her attempt at cross-stitching. LOL. I wasn't too excited about the pattern, especially when I had started doing video game projects

, but I made sure to pick it up occasionally and made it my travel project. I finished last month.

Last week I took this latch hook out of my closet. It's been sitting around for a decade (perhaps longer) only getting a few hundred stitches every couple years lol - less than 15% complete. The canvas had started to degrade at one of the spots it was folded so I figured I should work on it and leave it out until I'm done. Luckily it goes much faster than cross stitch. Almost 60% now.

Here's a small stitch I finished last week.
I only stitched the snowman on the bottom row, but it's part of a set (of 30) my mom is working on. I probably won't do anymore. I promised to do at least one, but stitching in hand for more than a few minutes at a time is uncomfortable [for me]. Eventually they are supposed to be worked into stockings, but I don't think that's happening in time for
this xmas season.

I love those little stockings! Maybe I'll try something similar for next year for my friends.

Hope everyone's been having a happy holiday season.
I've been trying out blackwork last 2 weeks.
[WIP] Many firsts here. First time working on 28-count and over 2. First blackwork and biscornu. I do still have to finish the back before I try turning it into a pincushion.

Made this needlebook as a quick(ish) Christmas present for my mom.

Pattern I kind of followed for the needlebook -

With minimum amount of sewing because (drawing, cutting, sewing) straight lines are my kryptonite.

This last piece was to keep busy while I watched cheesy hallmark movies with my mom last two days.\

I started a new cross stitch sampler 3 weeks ago. This is probably going to be my major project of the year, but I'm going to need to start up other less intense projects for the sake of my sanity. The design is a slightly older (15+ years)one by Teresa Wentzler. While I haven't done that many cross stitch pieces yet, I've seen enough to imagine that she probably ranks amongst the most complicated designers. If you ever feel like stitching one of her patterns, be prepared for tons of blended threads and fractional stitches as well as changing out colors every few stitches. Oh, and backstitch. So much backstitch. What have I gotten myself into

I just really wanted to do something Egyptian themed.
3 Weeks.
Over 2 on 28-Count Antique White Monaco (cotton)
a couple close-ups
Satin stitch with lazy daisies. The Eye of Ra is stitched over 1. Luckily there aren't too many over 1 parts in the design.
Here's a section of the main border that's finished (except just started BS). That gold and green part in the middle has about 3 dozen fractional stitches and uses 13 DMC colors (blended threads). I get to do 40 of these.
