Confession

Post by cirestan »

I don't play a lot of video games, or read many comics or Manga, or watch Anime.
My cross stitching is more traditional subject matter.
The reason I'm on these boards is because the other options are less active, are full of old people, and are pink... which would be much more noticeable to my co-workers as I peruse at work.

There are plenty of us who stitch more traditional patterns! Right now, I'm in the home stretch on an excellent Prairie Schooler pattern and have a big Dimensions kit sidelined for when I have the gumption to tackle it again. :nod If you post your work in the non video game forum, I guarantee it'll get oohs and aahs. :P

Don't worry cirestan, you're in good company!

The only projects I've posted to this board are ones specifically for challenges, because I, like you, tend to do more "traditional" designs when I'm crafting. I'm actually working on one now though that might qualify, although still not video games but its probably the first one that I've done in the... years that I've been here. I enjoy the company, and you're right, most of the other boards are just stuffy and non-active. I've tried so many different places and never found a home like this one for my crafting talk.

I will say, though, that you should check out the new forums over at Craft Hackers. Toni, one of the amazing quilters on this board, set it up and I find that I feel like its easier to post my work there as there isn't a need for it to be game/geek related. Its still quieter than here, but I am quite certain it will grow.

When I first joined, I was a bit worried about that, too, but Spritestitch is full of awesome people. Overall it seems to me that most, if not all, of the people on here are just here because they love their craft. That being said, I too love traditional stuffs :)

Same, although lately it's been very geeky work for me. I came here, originally, because I thought the combination would be cool but I definitely came here having only done kits and more traditional stuff. This place has broadened my horizons!

I'm so glad to read this because I was feeling a bit guilty for not stitching anything video gamey. I do play video games as often as I can, but my stitching doesn't really reflect that. I do want to make a Mariokart playset for the kidlets from plastic canvas as soon as I can find some here in the barren north, but that would be the first.

I never even imagined doing video game cross stitches or making my own patterns till I found this site. Granted, now a days I mostly do "Geeky" crafts. Before my Sprite Stitch discovery (and still occasionally) I bought cross stitch books and kits. I did a lot of Halloween/Fall and Xmas stitches. I love this site because there are many people with many interests and I get to see new things on a daily bases! I get the impression the people here appreciate and support crafting of any nature or subject.

(p.s. My Confession........I don't care for Pokemon and I had no Idea what a Dr. Who was untill I came here  )

We all like different things, but what unites us all is our love of crafting - and that's all that really matters! :D
