Re: Venting Thread, or FML!
Ugh! Yeah, I hate doctors too. My doctor and I are at a stand-still. I'm so tired of them just trying to treat symptoms instead of figuring out what's actually wrong with you! I have not been able to smell for over 3 years now. Sometimes it comes and goes but it's mostly not there at all. I'm also stuffed up ALL the time. It's been annoying! I've been to my doctor a couple times about it. She's given me a nose spray but since it's steroid based, I can only use it for about 2 weeks every few months. I want to be sent to a specialist but she refuses to send me to one until I try a neti pot, which I refuse to do because of the gross factor. But that's totally not the point! I want to find out WHY I was able to smell one day and not the next. She doesn't seem to care about that at all!
It's like our old IT guy here. My computer blue-screened about once a month for about 4 months in a year. He didn't particularly care why my computer did it as long as it worked when I rebooted it. Nevermind that it was dying a slow death! I don't want to be dying a slow death because my doctor was too lazy to do anything about it!

Re: Venting Thread, or FML!
BMH, Yurtle, I feel your pain. I've been to several doctors lately. How are you supposed to briefly explain how you're feeling and have them truly understand you? I'm sure it's hard for the doctors too; I'm not bashing them. The whole concept is so strange though: you are kept waiting in a tiny room that's too cold, and then a stranger (or relative stranger, if you've been there before) walks in and you're put on the spot. You're suddenly expected to convey in 5 minutes what's wrong with you, when a lot of the time you don't even know.
By the way, in June I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis.
My hands hurt all the time, but I just keep stitching anyway.

Re: Venting Thread, or FML!
I really hate when I am working on a project and then notice an error that occurred so long ago that it will take more time to take out than it is worth. It happens to me in every project area that I work in even if I count and recount something 5 times and am sure that it is right then I do it wrong and I just want to put my head on the desk sometimes.
I am in the same boat as many of you, not really straight edge but drugs never appealed to me and alcohol.. there is nothing worse than waking up feeling horrible. I learned my lesson and I try to avoid repeating the experience haha. I guess it does get added to the being called grandma and old lady since I love to quilt and cross stitch and have many projects going on at any one time (and I suppose having two kitties doesn't help that either!)
And Ducky I do understand how you feel in a way. I just moved up here about 7 months ago. I do not make friends very easily and had been using my boyfriend's friends as mine until recently when he decided that I need to get my own friends. The friends I have I live 11 hours away from so it's just not the same, they've gone on with their lives and it's difficult for me to watch and to not be apart of what is going on, esp since I just read about it on facebook rather than hearing it from them(facebook can be as much of a bad thing for being far away as it is good.) My boyfriend also feels that we should have time with our own friends away from each other and while I do agree to a point, I feel like this is his way to force me into trying harder because I get left alone on the weekends while he spends the time with his friends (granted they mostly just sit around and play video games). Unfortunately for me I have this stubbornness character flaw that is keeping me from doing anything about it. I am aware it is only hurting myself but it is such a hard habit to get over.

Re: Venting Thread, or FML!
I just realized this morning the pink I was going to use for a Kirby quilt is actually 3 different dye lots of pink, so the shade is slightly off for each piece of fabric.
I was just at Joanns last night too. Ugh. Guess where I am going tonight!
I also hate my stupid aging body. I pinned 5 quilts and quilted 2 of them Wednesday. My entire body hurt so much yesterday I couldn't do anything except go to Joanns and work on putting my fabric onto my new bolts.

Re: Venting Thread, or FML!
I just had a root canal yesterday, does that count?
Also I've felt like crap today. Whee.
But I'm going to a show and tell at my church group (chili cook off and arts 'n' crafts) to show off my beadwork.
And it snowed today. 6 inches or so. That's what I get for living in the mountains. ^_^
So down and up.
Also, I don't trust OBGYN's. And I hate girlie checkups. Which I'll have to get in the next two months. Ah better to count the ceiling tiles now than if I had to count them doing chemo.
BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Re: Venting Thread, or FML!
Thanks. Fortunately stitching is not nearly as hard on my hands as say, opening jars and things like that. Lifting things is really difficult too. And my knees... but that's enough complaining for now.DuckyBelkins wrote:Whoa! I am impressed with that devotion!starrley wrote: By the way, in June I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis.

Thank you, Yurtle. It makes me feel better that you know what I'm going through.Yurtle wrote:My husband was diagnosed with psioratic arthritis this year too. It SUCKS!! I feel for you!

And we're not even that old! It sucks that the dye lots weren't the same. That's so frustrating.tnitnetny wrote:I also hate my stupid aging body. I pinned 5 quilts and quilted 2 of them Wednesday. Emsbutterfly, I'm sorry that you're lonely. I was in a similar relationship once. It was quite miserable. I would give you advice if I felt at all qualified.
And m4pl3g1rl, root canals are awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Venting Thread, or FML!
BMH, Yurtle, if only you lived in the US! Then you could experience our medical system, where you'll be treated the same as in the UK or Canada, but you have to pick between paying your doctor's bill or the rent.
We're lucky these days because my wife has a very nice position with the government, but when our first child was born, we were living hand-to-mouth and could barely afford to keep her vaccinated, even with public assistance programs. From the time I left my mother's health insurance, I went a decade before I was able to see a doctor for my own checkup, and it was only when my wife was pregnant that she could get checkups on Medicaid. We're both lucky that we never broke a leg or had even minor medical issues, because the bills would have interfered with her law career; we would probably be working two jobs each and still be paying off the bills today.
