A couple of weeks ago I finished off Rick Harrison's LIcense to Pawn. It made me chuckle (as the show tends to also do) and it was interesting in the storytelling department.

Now I am reading Under the Dome by Stephen King with my cousin in Florida. We're both completely enamored with it! I really thought it would be hard to read since I got my 3ds for Christmas (I usually read or play for a couple of hours after I've tucked myself into bed so I'd have to choose) but this book hooked me and the decision to keep reading it has been pretty easy. Let's just say...I'm not a very fast reader and the first day my roommate wanted my computer around 10pm so that left me 2-3 hours of "what do I do now before I go to bed" time so I read but I read 20% of the book in that first day. Considering this book is almost 1100 pages long...that is a huge chunk...well, to me anyway! Then I got sick the day after that and have been fighting a dull headache and that "head in a fog" feeling for the last three days but have still managed to read another 10% in that time.

Definitely a recommend for any Stephen King fan. :D

I just finished reading The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi and I can't recommend it enough. It's not necessarily for the faint of heart, but the world is absolutely fascinating- not exactly post apocalyptic, but post modern when food becomes difficult to grow, plagues spread, and the global world contracts. Really excellent storytelling.

I am currently reading The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. It's a sequel of Name of the Wind, which really just draws you in. I couldn't stop reading it. I'm only a few pages into the second but it's having the same effect!

I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying it! I watched the TV series last year, and really enjoyed it. I've been debating whether or not to read the book before or after the series is finished - I want to know what happens but I also want to watch it, does that make sense?

Side note - I used to work in a cinema and would get really annoyed when people would come out of films like Harry Potter and Twilight saying things like 'oooh, I wonder what's going to happen in the next film? I don't want to wait another year to find out!'. In my head I would yell, 'read the book then!'. I've just realised I have become that person...

Currently reading A Taste of Darkness by Maria V Snyder, the third in the series. I've read a couple of her other book series and really enjoy them, perfect light reading. Struggled to put it down last night!

I'd be interested in what you think of it once you're done.

I'm on a couple of the reading committees for my state's children's book award and I just started on this years batch of books (the ones that are selected will be read by kids in the 2015-16 school year) and the first book on the intermediate list that I picked up was Neil Gaiman's Fortunately The Milk....very fun book!
Haven't picked up another one yet (I have five others from the library)...been having too much fun reading Who-Ology...chock full of Doctor Who facts!

Yep, makes perfect sense! I am the same way about Game of Thrones. I will not read the book before the series airs (not as bad now that I'm a few seasons ahead of where I've read but I wouldn't read book 1 until season 1 was over). I'm not usually one of those that complains endless about how much better the book was than the movie/show/whatever but if I haven't read the book yet I wouldn't want to read it until the show was done for the most part. However, Under the Dome could go on for years so...it may be worth it to read anyway (you could stop reading as soon as you start finding stuff you haven't seen in the show maybe).

Also...I'm up to 40% done now. LOL!

One of the Harry Potter movies we went to see there was a black family behind us and they were totally doing that stereotypical black thing of talking to the screen about wondering what was going to come next, how did he do that, etc. It was so bad it was even annoying my daughter who hadn't read the books either and only had half an interest in the show as it was (she was younger and her ADHD can be tricky with her attention span). I wanted to turn around and tell them to shut up and read the books if they wanted to know what was going to happen or how things ended up the way they were.

See I would much rather read the books first and have a better understanding of the film/program With ASOIF it wasn't really a choice as I read them around 5 years ago, but I recently read The hunger games book trilogy and then really enjoyed the film so far I jave only seen the first one but i think they did a great job of sticking to the book.

Currently I am reading 'The Rogue' by Trudi Cannavan which is the second book in the Traitor spy trilogy, they are absolutely brilliant books and I look forwrd to reading some of her others.

I really enjoyed this series! If you like those then I'd definitely recommend trying Maria V Snyder.

For me ASOIAF started out as a "I'll read the books during the summer breaks in between the seasons" thing and I just haven't been able to keep up. I didn't want to read the first one while I was watching the first season, though, because I didn't want to know what was going to happen. LOL! I think nowadays I wouldn't care about reading ahead as much.

I have the Hunger Games books on my kindle phone app to get around to reading them eventually. lol
