Got 4 books as Xmas gifts and have already finished them (though 2 were graphic novels): Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop, The Dark Crystal novelization by ACH Smith (reprint special edition), Dark Crystal Creation Myths vol. 2, and The Lovecraft Anthology graphic novel. Loved them all! My mother (bless her) has also told me the 3rd book in the Anne Bishop series is on pre-order for when it comes out in March and the husband has promised me the Labyrinth reprint special edition as well. I just today finished up the Wordsworth edition Lovecraft anthology "The Whisperer in Darkness" (which included most of the original Cthulu mythos) and will be starting the "Horror in the Museum" anthology. I am also making my way through A Tale of Two Cities and the second Outlander novel. As we got our first tablet at the end of last year, I have also been downloading free books like a madwoman (haven't read any yet).

...and I've started listening to Stephen King's "11/22/63" on audio book during my commute. 33 discs. We will see if I have to renew it from the library before I'm done.

Reading Dean Koontz's Odd Thomas with my friend. She's been bugging me to read it for like...a decade and the other day she was talking about needing to read the latest book so she can finish out the series and it reminded me that she wanted me to read it so I suggested she reread the series with me and that way we can talk about it. It's pretty good so far.

I'm reading Horns by Joe Hill at the moment. I'm really loving it so far; it's so full of dark humour and explores just how psycho some people are down in the deepest parts of them, not to mention the literal horns and demon powers the main character grows. Might watch the movie after I'm done, but I'm having a hard time reconciling my image of Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter to the one of him in this film with horns protruding from his head and the powers of the devil...

My husband watched the movie. I only glanced over from time time. It was...odd. Especially seeing Daniel Radcliffe with an American accent. I may have to read the book sometime.

I really want to see the movie (I need to just watch it since it's on Netflix right now lol). After seeing Daniel in Woman in Black, I'm all for seeing him in more adult roles. He really is a good actor. Didn't know there was a book too. Might have to look that one up and add it to my collection!

Went to the library the other day and borrowed some books. Borrowed The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel and I Am Malala for myself. Checked out a Spiderman comic book and How to Train Your Dragon for the kiddo. I'm thinking I might want to read How to Train Your Dragon too. Haha!

I'm about 3/4 of the way through The Alchemyst and enjoying it pretty well. It's a fast read. I love how the author (Michael Scott) was able to fit in all these legends and pantheons from different religions and cultures into the book. All the characters, with the exception of the twin protagonists, are real people or real mythological beings. As a huge fan of mythology this is right up my alley.

I can't wait to finish it so I can start I Am Malala. This young lady is really inspiring and I've been wanting to read her book for a long time. If I get both of them read in time I might steal How to Train Your Dragon from the kiddo and check it out. She says she's not sure if she wants to read it because it looks a little too childish for her (I think because the book is made to look like the book in the movie with the ink spots and everything...like someone wrote it by hand).

On my Kindle (a.k.a. my nighttime book) I'm reading Murderous Minds - Exploring the Criminal Psychopathic Brain: Neurological Imaging and the Manifestation of Evil by Dean Haycock. It's deeply fascinating and written in a way that, while it does goes into science stuff, is still readable by a layperson. Anyone interested in psychology, psychopathy, or serial killers will probably enjoy it.

Reading the new book in the Penderwicks series and I have a stack of nominees that I have to try and get through for the state award committees that I am...and there's more where that came from :P

I recently read Pushing Ice by Alaister Reynolds. It's a hard sci-fi novel about ice miners in the latter half of the 21st century who get drafted into chasing down an alien artifact. Reynolds reminds me a little of Kim Stanley Robinson, though perhaps not quite as deft in his handling of leapfrogging long years between scenes. Still very enjoyable. It's a good self-contained read that pulls the reader through nicely. I'm reading his Revelation Space now. It asks a little more indulgence up front than Pushing Ice did, but I'm willing to see where it goes.
