Lego Movie costume

So I decided to participate in a costume contest at work, and I'm going with Emmet from The Lego Movie. End goal: attempt to dance to "Everything Is Awesome" in a full body lego suit (including legs). I will attempt to get this on video. Biggest challenge is, I only have 2 weeks to make it! Be prepared for lots of updates (to keep myself on target if nothing else.)

Day 1:
Drew out sketches of the proportions for the body. Decided to use foam board for most of the construction since it will be light, and more durable than cardboard.
Day 2:
Bought foam board (yay convenient sale) and cut the torso with my matboard cutter. I'm taping the inside only with packing tape, since I don't think spray paint will bond well to it on the outside. I will get masking tape later to tape the outside edges.

Day 3: Cut out (most) of the legs. I haven't decided yet how i want to do the rounded "knees", and I haven't attached the back to the legs yet because if I make them solid, I won't be able to step into them from the top (since they are ~30" tall). I will probably put a hinged back on, so I can step into them Ironman style and velcro or ortherwise close them up.
If you want to see my sketch from Day 1, here it is. Once i have everything made, I plan to go back through and make a tutorial, and I'll explain how I arrived at the dimensions I did. Don't have time to make the tutorial as I go, though
Day 4: shopping! Got the concrete form tube to cut down for the head, some foam shapes for the helmet, and various fabric for the arms/vest, etc.

Oh man, I love this. I was re-watching the Lego Movie on the plane back home this week and was seriously considering putting together a Wildside costume, but this looks much better than what I had envisaged!
