TigerLily's Projects- Creeper Hat and Scarf Sets Pg.5

Post by TigerLily »

So, I liked the idea that some people had of putting all their projects in one nice tidy topic, so I thought I'd give it a go as well.

At the moment, I am working on two things. One is a Supernatural Dean doll for a birthday present.

To give an idea of what Dean will look like, here is a picture of the first versions I made of Sam, Dean and Castiel. Their hair went a bit messy in the picture, but you kind of get the idea. I originally made these guys up for my boyfriend's mom for her birthday last year. The doll I'm making now is just Dean and I am making him bigger since he's the only one the girl wants. I'll post a picture of the new Dean when I get a chance.

The other project I am starting is a Star Trek TNG Uniform jumper for said boyfriend. I've made my chart and pattern up and I have just started knitting the bottom ribbing. I'm super excited and nervous about making this. I really hope it comes out well.

These are amazing! Fantastic job on all three, but I have to say that Castiel is my favourite of these - I think it's because of how perfectly you did the trenchcoat and tie :good:

Thank you! I must admit, I probably took a bit more care with Castiel as he's my favourite. I've quite a crush on Misha. haha

Alrighty, the larger Dean doll is now in the possession of his new owner, so I can post pictures. It's hard to tell without having them directly next to each other, but this Dean is about twice the size of the first Dean. I think doing the larger version gave me more options when doing his hair. (Sorry about the flash. It was too dark to take them without it.)

Here's a side view so you can see how I did his hair somewhat.

Also, I've finished charting up all of the pieces of the Star Trek Jumper, and have started knitting away. I am getting pretty close to finally adding the red in. My main concern is going to be making sure the black for the top of the sleeves lines up properly with the black on the shoulders. I'll probably end up doing it a few times before getting it right, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

The Dean doll is awesome! I hope you'll be sharing pics of the Star Trek jumper with us? Pretty please, with cherries on top? :beg:

Thank you! And I will be. Unfortunately though, I finished about 70 rows and just now realized that my gauge is wrong. A last minute switch of yarn has me knitting tighter than originally planned for, and since he's a relatively big guy, it just won't do. :(

So, I'll be ripping, re-charting and starting over tomorrow. I might be able to start knitting tonight without the re-chart since the bottom is all black, so it might not be too bad. I'm just going to quadruple check my gauge before beginning again.

(I might take a quick picture of the original progress to show, because I was really excited with how it was looking. The good news is that the current chart should fit me for when I want to do my sciences version. :D )

Alright, so I've been working on the jumper and I've made it back to where I was and then some.
Here we are so far. :)

The fact that the side black bits look a bit jagged is slightly bothersome. I might try doing a slight dupilcate stitch on top of the jutted changes to smooth it out. Not sure yet though. We'll see how he feels about it when it's done.

That's one lucky dude! I wish knitting, as a collective craft, wasn't out to kill me. I just watched Generations again last night, so this WIP is especially timely. :P

Wow, that's looking awesome! Can I ask what yarn you're using?

Also, I see what you mean about the jagged edges - I'd see how it looks on before altering it, but the duplicate stitch should work quite nicely if you decide to smooth them out.

Thank you! I'm a lucky gal for having this dude. He's the one who really opened me up to Star Trek to begin with. :D

Thanks! I'm using Stylecraft Life DK on 4mm needles. The colour of the red is called 'Cardinal' (Shade 2306 if you're looking for it).
